Anthropos vs Degreed
The learning platform and the full skills loop. What each platform actually does, where each one wins, and how to choose.
Anthropos is the skills intelligence platform for workforce assessment and upskilling: automatic skills mapping, verification through AI Simulations, AI Interviews and AI Labs, AI Readiness scoring, and development with courses created from your own material, for hiring and the workforce you have. Degreed organizes learning: pathways across some 80 licensed content sources, with Maestro adding AI coaching, roleplay practice and conversational check-ins. Choose Degreed to curate the content you already license. Choose Anthropos to prove skills and close verified gaps in one loop, or run both, with verified gaps steering your Degreed pathways.
Every capability that matters

Two different answers to the same question
Both platforms exist because self-reported skills data cannot be trusted. They solve it in fundamentally different ways.
Degreed is a learning and upskilling platform. It aggregates around 80 content sources into pathways and plans, harmonizes skills data across systems with Skills+, and runs cohort programs through Academies. Customers include HSBC, Ford, Intuit and Capgemini.
Maestro, its AI layer, added voice and text coaching, roleplay practice with an AI counterpart, conversational Skills Check-Ins on your own taxonomy, and Guided Conversations for change readiness. Skill verification beyond conversations comes from partners such as Workera and iMocha.

Anthropos is the AI-native platform companies use to manage talent at scale. It runs the full cycle: map every role against a 60,000-skill taxonomy, collect everything you know about your people from CV, HRIS and LinkedIn, confirm it with guided self-assessment, verify it in AI Simulations, AI Interviews and hands-on AI Labs, then upskill against the verified gaps.
Coverage comes with depth. Anthropos Studio turns your documents into custom simulations, complete courses are created from your material, and both roll out to thousands of people. The same engine verifies candidates in hiring, so one platform runs everything from pre-hire to reskilling.
And it stays open and personal: full APIs and MCP, Talk to Data for plain-language answers from your skills data, Workforce Intelligence and a 0–100 AI Readiness score, with an experience that adapts to each employee: their profile, their gaps, their next role.
Customers include FS Group, Italgas, Together AI, Datrix and Orbyta Tech · adopted in weeks
What can Anthropos do that Degreed cannot?
Maestro practices one conversation at a time with an AI counterpart. An Anthropos AI Simulation is one situation, whole: a sales leader is on a live voice call with an AI character playing a VP who is pushing back on terms, a contract sits open on screen, and a colleague messages with new numbers. Decide, respond, deliver, all scored together.
AI actors with an agenda
Every character has a name, a role and an objective. They push back, change tone and react to what your people say.
Four channels, one score
Voice, chat, code and document work run together and are evaluated together, the way real work happens.
A taxonomy of its own
Degreed works with the framework you bring. Anthropos ships 60,000 skills mapped to 18,000 roles, and verifies against it.

Do ratings and check-ins prove someone can do the job?
Not by themselves. Self, peer and manager ratings are opinions, and a conversational check-in is a calibrated self-report: it captures what people say about their experience, not what they do under pressure.
A live, multi-channel simulation is a different problem. There is no answer to look up when an AI character asks you to defend a decision on a voice call, in real time, while the document in front of you contradicts your claim.
That is why Anthropos treats behavioral evidence, not test scores, as the unit of verification.
Who proves the training worked?
On Degreed, development is the strength: pathways, academies and coaching over the content you license. What the platform does not do natively is prove the training transferred. Anthropos closes that loop, and verified gaps can steer the Degreed pathways you already run.
On Anthropos, the same platform that found the gap closes it, and “we can’t prove ROI”, the most common complaint enterprise buyers make about skills platforms, stops being your problem.
Verified gaps steer your pathways
Keep Degreed for delivery if you want: Anthropos tells each person exactly what to learn, verified per skill.
Reassessment proves the growth
The same instrument that found the gap measures the progress. One loop: map, verify, develop.

Degreed organizes learning. Anthropos proves capability.
Testing is one step. Anthropos covers what comes before and after it, for every role, including deeply technical ones.
Full skills mapping
Every employee auto-mapped from CV, HRIS and LinkedIn into a 60,000-skill taxonomy. No surveys to launch, no spreadsheet to maintain.
AI Interviews
Qualitative interviews at scale for any role: context, aspiration and how people actually work with AI, feeding one integrated report.
AI Labs
Secure sandboxes where people build with Claude Code, Copilot and Codex: structured, hands-on sessions scored like a simulation, not passive usage telemetry. Built for deeply technical roles, including AI engineering.
Course creation
Create complete courses and Skill Paths from scratch, from your own material, and assign them exactly where verified gaps appear.
The same verified skills data powers every use case
AI transformation
Score AI Readiness for every person and team, then drive adoption of Claude Code, Copilot and Codex with verified progress.
Hiring
Assess candidates in the job, not a quiz: verified tech and business skills before the offer, with Anthropos Hiring.
Onboarding
Day-one skills maps and simulations that let new hires experience the real job, safely.
Reskilling and internal mobility
Surface hidden capability, match people to open roles, and retrain into the roles AI is changing.
Compliance and safety
Practice high-stakes procedures in simulation, with verified evidence of who can do what.
Training ROI and succession
Prove programs moved real capability, and know who is ready next for every critical role.
Which platform is right for you?
Different needs, different strengths. This is how we would advise a buyer who could pick either.
Anthropos vs Degreed: FAQ
Is Anthropos a good alternative to Degreed?
They solve different problems. Degreed organizes learning across the content you license; Anthropos is the skills intelligence platform for workforce assessment and upskilling: it maps skills, verifies them through AI Simulations, AI Interviews and AI Labs, and develops people with courses built from your material. Teams replacing an LXP choose Anthropos for the full loop; teams keeping Degreed add it for verified skills data.
Does Anthropos do skills mapping, or only assessment?
Both. Anthropos ships its own 60,000-skill taxonomy and auto-maps every employee from CV, HRIS and LinkedIn, then verifies the map through simulations, interviews and labs. Degreed works with your existing taxonomy and fills gaps from resumes and partner inference such as TechWolf.
What is the main difference between Anthropos and Degreed?
Degreed’s centre of gravity is learning delivery: pathways, academies and Maestro AI coaching over aggregated content. Anthropos runs the full skills loop: it maps skills, proves them in one immersive scenario combining voice calls, chat, code and document work with AI actor characters, and develops them against the verified gaps, producing per-skill evidence for any role.
Does Degreed offer AI simulations like Anthropos?
Degreed Maestro offers AI roleplay practice: one conversation with one AI counterpart, with rubrics that can score the practice. What Degreed does not publicly offer is an Anthropos-style simulation: multiple AI actors in one scenario combining voice calls, chat, code tasks and document work, scored together.
Can Degreed verify skills without Anthropos?
Degreed’s native signals are self, peer and manager ratings plus Maestro’s conversational Skills Check-In, a calibrated conversation about experience. For performance-based verification, Degreed integrates assessment partners. Anthropos verifies natively, by observing work in simulations, labs and interviews.
Do we have to replace Degreed to use Anthropos?
No. Many teams keep Degreed for learning delivery and add Anthropos to run the skills loop: map skills, verify them in simulations, and let verified gaps steer the pathways you already run. Anthropos deploys in weeks alongside an existing learning stack.
How long does it take to deploy Anthropos compared to Degreed?
Anthropos is typically adopted in weeks, including HRIS connection, skills auto-mapping and the first AI Simulation campaigns. Degreed rollouts depend on content licensing and integration scope. Running the two together requires no migration.
