You plan Nexium's migration to Microsoft Azure for scalability.
Simulation Details:
Nexium is a leading company in the e-commerce sector, renowned for its innovative approach and robust platform, EcomX Prime. The platform features a sophisticated user interface, advanced search capabilities, and personalized shopping experiences powered by machine learning algorithms. Nexium's innovations include a one-click checkout process and a dynamic pricing engine that adjusts prices in real-time based on market demand, significantly enhancing user experience and operational efficiency.
With over 500 employees, Nexium specializes in providing a seamless shopping experience to its customers. The company employs a team of 50 customer service representatives available 24/7 to assist customers with inquiries, ensuring high customer satisfaction. The logistics team of 30 members manages the end-to-end delivery process, coordinating with local suppliers and carriers to ensure timely delivery of products.
The development team, consisting of 100 engineers, continuously works on improving the platform's performance and adding new features. Recent enhancements include the integration of an AI-powered recommendation engine and the implementation of a real-time inventory management system.
Nexium operates a decentralized system with regional centers in North America, Europe, and Asia, each responsible for various aspects of operations, including customer support and supply chain management. The planned migration to Microsoft Azure aims to improve scalability, security, and cost efficiency, addressing performance degradation and downtime incidents experienced during recent traffic peaks.
In this simulation, you will assume the role of Alex Johnson, a DevOps Engineer at Nexium. Your primary responsibility is to plan the migration of the EcomX Prime platform to Microsoft Azure. You will interact individually with key stakeholders, such as the CTO, the Senior System Administrator, and an Azure Solutions Architect. Each will provide insights, requirements, and concerns that need to be considered in the proposal. Your mission involves:
- Gathering information from stakeholders about the current infrastructure and key requirements for the migration through one-on-one discussions.
- Developing a high-level migration proposal that outlines the migration strategy, includes key considerations such as scalability, security, and cost efficiency, and addresses potential risks with suggested mitigation strategies.
- Compiling this information into a single final report to be presented to your manager, Sarah Lee.
Your ability to efficiently synthesize stakeholder input and create a comprehensive yet concise proposal will be crucial to the success of the project.
To complete the simulation, you need to:
- Engage in one-on-one discussions with key stakeholders to gather detailed information about the current infrastructure, key requirements, and concerns for the migration.
- Develop a high-level migration proposal that outlines the migration strategy, addresses key considerations such as scalability, security, and cost efficiency, and includes potential risks with suggested mitigation strategies.
- Compile the migration proposal into a final report and submit it to your manager for review.
Once you completed all the tasks, save the required final document in a PDF or DOCX and send it to Sarah Lee.
