Simulation Details:
Proxima is a mid-sized manufacturing company specializing in high-quality consumer electronics, such as smartphones, tablets, and smart-home devices. The company’s flagship smartphone, the Proxima Edge, is known for its advanced camera and high customer satisfaction, while the Proxima Tab Ultra tablet is popular among creative professionals for its long battery life and 4K display. Proxima’s reputation is built on innovation, reliability, and operational excellence, consistently maintaining defect rates well below industry averages through rigorous quality control and advanced technological infrastructure. The company recently set a new production record and secured a major contract, highlighting its ability to meet demanding targets. Employee development is a core value, with specialized training programs that directly contribute to productivity and quality improvements. As Proxima expands its automation capabilities, it faces the challenge of integrating new equipment without disrupting its tightly scheduled production commitments.
Proxima is preparing to integrate a next-generation CNC milling machine into its production line, aiming to boost efficiency and reduce defect rates. The installation, however, presents operational risks, such as potential calibration issues and temporary production shutdowns, which could impact output and quality. The project is further complicated by tight deadlines for a high-profile client order and the need to manage both technical and interpersonal challenges among staff. Key stakeholders include a production supervisor focused on maintaining schedules and a lead machine operator eager for new technology but concerned about training adequacy. Unexpected events, such as delivery delays or sudden increases in production targets, may require quick adjustments to the integration plan.
You step into the role of a Junior Project Manager responsible for coordinating the integration of the new CNC milling machine. Your mission is to engage in focused, one-on-one conversations with two key stakeholders: the Senior Production Supervisor, who is concerned about production disruptions, and the Lead CNC Machine Operator, who provides insights into technical requirements and training needs. Through these discussions, you will gather essential information about production bottlenecks, technical specifications, training priorities, and maintenance routines. Using the insights collected, you will draft a comprehensive integration plan that balances operational continuity, technical requirements, and stakeholder concerns. You must present this plan to the Senior Production Supervisor, address any feedback, and secure their approval before finalizing it.
To complete the simulation, you must:
- Gather information by conversing individually with the Senior Production Supervisor and the Lead CNC Machine Operator.
- Identify operational risks, technical requirements, and training needs through these discussions.
- Draft a single, clear integration plan that addresses installation scheduling, training arrangements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Present the plan to the Senior Production Supervisor, revise it as needed based on their feedback, and obtain their approval.
Once you have finalized the integration plan, save it as a PDF or DOCX and send it to your manager.
