 Simulation Details:
Avelon Systems is a mid-sized company with 150 employees, specializing in advanced machinery for the fashion manufacturing industry. Known for precision engineering, Avelon delivers innovative solutions to fast-fashion brands, such as their flagship automated fabric cutting system, which reduces material waste and handles diverse fabrics with high accuracy. The company’s engineering team uses advanced tools to design reliable machinery that integrates seamlessly into client production lines. Avelon has a reputation for meeting tight deadlines and adapting to complex requirements, often by repurposing proven components and using phased delivery strategies. Their collaborative approach between engineering, sales, and project management ensures tailored solutions that meet the fast-paced demands of the industry, while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
You step into the role of a mid-level Project Manager at Avelon Systems, facing a critical deadline conflict. A major client, StyleCorp, expects delivery of a custom automated fabric cutting system in six weeks—a timeline promised by the VP of Sales without engineering input. However, the engineering team requires significantly more time to ensure quality and reliability. Your mission is to resolve this conflict by engaging in one-on-one conversations with three key stakeholders: the Engineering Lead, the VP of Sales, and the Production Manager at StyleCorp. Through these calls, you must uncover technical constraints, negotiate feasible alternatives, clarify the client’s must-have requirements, and propose actionable solutions such as phased delivery or scope reduction. Your goal is to align all parties on a realistic plan that balances technical feasibility, business priorities, and client expectations—while preserving relationships and safeguarding Avelon’s reputation.
- Engage in structured, one-on-one calls with the Engineering Lead, VP of Sales, and StyleCorp’s Production Manager.
- Validate technical constraints and explore options to adjust scope or delivery phases.
- Present realistic trade-offs and secure support for a revised plan from sales leadership.
- Clarify the client’s critical launch needs and confirm acceptance of any proposed changes.
- Demonstrate negotiation and conflict management skills by aligning all stakeholders on a feasible, risk-mitigated action plan.
